You could now qualify for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC). This is for self-funded retirees who do not receive the pension and are not eligible for the Pensioner Concession Card.
The CSHC gives you;
- Access to cheaper medicine under the PBS
- Chance to be bulk billed by a GP
- Bigger refund on medical costs when you reach the Medicare Safety Net, and;
- Access to some state and territory concessions
If you are an eligible card holder by 10 July 2020, there is a government stimulus payment of $750.00
Changes to deeming rates mean many more retirees will qualify as your income level will possibly fall below the income test threshold. There is no asset test.
It is not too late to apply, but time is running out. The application form can be found at Services Australia website.
